Countdown to MoneyLIVE: 421 on the Future of Banking and Payments

Written by:

On October 27-28, the Nordic and Baltic banking and payments community gathers in Copenhagen for MoneyLIVE Nordic Banking, and 421 will be there. Ahead of the event, we sat down with Senior Manager Cecilia Guthreus and Associate Manager Jannika Gustafsson, both of whom will attend, to hear what they hope to learn and which conversations they’re looking forward to.

Why is 421 attending MoneyLIVE this year?

First, we want to be more present where the industry meets, and MoneyLIVE brings together a broad mix of topics and people, so it’s a great way to network and keep up with market trends. Of course, Payments are a big part of it, but it’s essentially about the future of finance as a whole. Secondly, we still believe the physical meeting remains irreplaceable for exchanging ideas with industry peers, says Cecilia.

Why is it important that Nordic and Baltic markets meet?

We’re all facing the same wave of change, just from different starting points. Many banks operate across several of these markets, yet the adoption varies a lot. The Baltic countries, for example, are part of the euro area, so some EU payment initiatives reach them earlier than non-euro member states. There is a lot the rest of us can learn from their experience, says Jannika.

What topics are you looking forward to the most?

I’m particularly looking forward to the agenda’s focus on transforming Nordic payments, including instant payments, cross-border harmonization and the evolution of digital wallets. I’m also interested in the sessions on AI-powered banking and how AI is reshaping customer engagement and banking operations, says Cecilia.

Beyond the sessions, we are looking forward to the floor talk around PSR and AI. With so many changes happening in parallel, it will be valuable to hear how banks are approaching these topics, prioritizing their efforts and turning ambition into action. Those informal conversations often provide the best reality check on where the industry really stands, says Jannika.

Thank you, Cecilia and Jannika, for your time, and we look forward to hearing from you after the event!
