SEPA Direct Debit (called ‘European direct debit’ in Belgium)
It is a payment protocol that defines a rulebook for specific payments between banks in the Eurozone. Like all other direct debit systems, it is based on the following concept: ‘I request money from someone else, with their prior approval, and credit it to myself.’ Both payer and biller must have accounts with a payment service provider located within SEPA.
