The European Central Bank is the central banking institution of the Eurozone. It is responsible for the euro currency within the European Union. The ECB’s main task is to maintain the euro’s purchasing power and price stability within the Eurozone. The Eurozone includes 20 EU countries that have used the euro since 1999.
