Single Euro Payments Area
This unique euro payment area forms an integrated European market for payment instruments. The purpose of SEPA is to ensure that euro-denominated payments within Europe are as simple and efficient as domestic payments, by unifying rules and standards for credit transfers and direct debits.
SEPA consists of 41 countries, including EU and EEA member states as well as other European countries not part of either EU nor EEA (e.g. UK and Switzerland).
